HIMSS Policy Summit 2010
'A Day on the Hill'
2010 Policy Summit Sue Green, HIMSS-MN Advocacy Chair, as well as other HIMSS members Steven Due, Justin McMartin, Randy Lentz, and Mitch Lentz (student) participated with HIMSS “A Day on the Hill”. The Summit is held once a year, this year it was held June 16-17 at the Ronald Regan Trade Center in Washington D.C. While in Washington, Sue Green and Steven Due attended Senator Amy Klobuchar’s “Minnesota Morning” breakfast. In addition, the members met with Senate and State staff representatives advocating the use of electronic medical records and business intelligence tools to improve provider quality and patient safety.   4. Contact your national and state legislators to inform them of your position! HIMSS provides templates of what to communicate at http://capwiz.com/himss/home/. Once each year, HIMSS coordinates visits to national representatives in Washington . On this Advocacy Day, you can join other HIMSS members speaking to congress about the same issues and be prepped with information before you go.
